Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

This page provides answers to common questions about the Journal International Review of Research Studies (JIRRS), including submissions, peer review, ethics, open access, and indexing.

General Questions

What is JIRRS?

JIRRS is a peer-reviewed, open access international journal that publishes scholarly research across a wide range of academic disciplines.

Is JIRRS an open access journal?

Yes. All content is freely accessible online without subscription fees.

What is the journal scope?

JIRRS accepts original research, review articles, and other scholarly contributions across sciences, technology, engineering, social sciences, and the humanities, subject to relevance, quality, and methodological rigor.

Submission and Publication Process

How do I submit a manuscript?

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system: Submissions.

What file formats are accepted?

We accept Word (.doc/.docx), LaTeX, and PDF for review purposes, as defined in the Submissions guidelines.

How long does peer review take?

The average time to first decision is approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript. The overall submission-to-publication timeline may vary depending on revision rounds.

Can I track my manuscript status?

Yes. Authors can track progress by logging into their OJS account and viewing the submission workflow.

Does JIRRS accept simultaneous submissions?

JIRRS is currently applying for an ISSN (online) through the UK national ISSN centre. Once assigned, the ISSN will be displayed prominently on the journal website and in the journal metadata.

Does JIRRS charge Article Processing Charges (APCs)?

Yes. To support the operational costs of open-access publishing — including hosting, indexing, editorial management, and DOI assignment — JIRRS applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) to accepted articles.

However, the journal maintains a limited quota of APC waivers, allowing selected articles to be published free of charge based on editorial criteria, academic merit, or specific circumstances. No fees are charged prior to manuscript acceptance.

Peer Review and Ethics

What peer review model does JIRRS use?

JIRRS uses a double-blind peer review process.

How are reviewers selected?

Reviewers are selected based on subject-matter expertise, research experience, and absence of conflicts of interest.

What is the journal policy on plagiarism?

All submissions are screened for similarity. Manuscripts with significant overlap may be rejected or returned for clarification. Confirmed plagiarism results in rejection and may be reported to the author’s institution, in line with ethical procedures.

Can I use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) in preparing my manuscript?

AI tools may be used for language editing, translation, or analytical support. Authors remain fully responsible for content and must disclose relevant AI use where applicable, according to the journal’s policies.

ISSN and Indexing

Does JIRRS have an ISSN?

JIRRS is currently in the process of obtaining an ISSN from the ISSN UK Centre.

Is JIRRS indexed in databases?

JIRRS is currently in the early publication stage and will apply to indexing services (e.g., DOAJ, Scopus, Web of Science) when eligibility criteria are met. Indexing will only be announced once formally confirmed by each service.

When will JIRRS have an impact factor?

Impact metrics are issued by indexing databases after eligibility criteria are met and sufficient citation history exists. JIRRS will communicate validated metrics once available.

DOI (Digital Object Identifier)

Do published articles receive a DOI?

Yes. All published articles receive a DOI, which is displayed on the article landing page and in the final published PDF.

Where can I find the DOI?

When assigned, the DOI appears on the article landing page and in the final published PDF.

Do authors retain copyright?

Yes. Authors retain copyright of their work. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), and authors grant the journal the right of first publication.
